Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Bread: Slice the crusts off the white sandwich bread, leaving soft, rectangular pieces. Flatten each slice gently to about ¼ inch thick.
  2. Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Spread the filling onto each flattened bread slice.
  3. Roll Them Up: Tightly roll each slice of cinnamon-coated bread into a cylinder and press the edges to seal.
  4. Prepare the French Toast Batter: Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Heat the Skillet: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add butter until it melts.
  6. Dip and Cook: Dip each rolled-up slice into the batter and place seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Rotate and Finish Cooking: Rotate roll-ups to cook all sides evenly for 2-3 minutes more.
  8. Serve Them Warm: Remove roll-ups from the skillet and serve warm. Optionally dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with maple syrup.
