Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Slice large yellow onions into ½-inch thick rings, separating them into layers.
  2. Combine softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, diced jalapeños, and optional add-ins in a bowl, mix well, and chill for 10 minutes.
  3. Fill the center of each onion ring with the chilled filling using a spoon.
  4. Freeze stuffed onion rings on a parchment-lined tray for 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Dredge frozen onion rings in all-purpose flour, then dip in beaten eggs and coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry onion rings for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
