Dough Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water with sugar and active dry yeast; let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil, all-purpose flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Lightly grease a bowl with oil, place the dough inside, cover, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Toppings and Baking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the Italian sausage until browned, then add onions and garlic.
  2. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and prepare a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  3. Shape the risen dough into a 12-inch circle and place on the baking sheet.
