Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large Dutch oven or soup pot, heat a splash of neutral oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant and golden.
  2. Introduce sliced napa cabbage and julienned carrots to the pot. Pour in vegetable stock and bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Allow the soup to simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Uncover the pot and stir in soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sesame oil. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
  5. Ladle the hot soup into bowls and serve warm, optionally garnishing with fresh herbs or sesame seeds.
